On the surrounds for the door handles I cleaned them with dish washing liquid, lightly sanded them, 4 coats of primer, 3 coats of paint & 4 coats of clear. This works great on the hard plastic but on the soft be sure to use vinyl paint with adhesion promoter first. Regular spray paint will chip real fast if used on anything that's soft and flexible!

the vinyl paint adhesion stuff works well u can use spray vaersion of base coat clear coat paint and just dont put the clear on the base coast paint matches up with a very good finish similar to the factory and then u can have any color u want made into a spray can though but the spray cans this way can be costly .

I used Dupli-Color High Performance Vinyl & Fabric paint after a bath in denatured alcohol and a scotchbright pad and a layer of primer

Bulldog (or similar adhesion promoter)+
your choice of vinyl and plastic paint

Do not use normal spray paint, it will turn to gel in the heat of a car. Use something designed for automotive interiors.

Primer is not neccesary, unless you have small imperfections smaller than a 180 grit scratch that you would like to fill and sand, which is not likely to turn out well on a textured surface.

The bulldog adhesion promoter is also a sealer, which means you can topcoat right over it with good results.
