So i've been pricing rangers latly, I plan on going ranger shopping in october when my focus is paid off. So I've been looking around to see what year and options i'm going to be looking at when I go shopping. I would like to get a 2003 -2005 range in 4x4. But today I've notice something interesting. I can get a full size 2005 Superduty FX4 diesle for the same price or near the same price I can get a 2005 FX4 ranger.

Example A: http://1powergm.com/profile.asp?VIN=1FTZR45E65PA01015&xMake=&FilterMake=0&zip=&distance=

Example B: http://columbusautoresale.com/used/Ford/2005-Ford-F-350-d66c181d4046381101257d301040662b.htm
They have it marked down to $14,900 in the ad.

So why the hell not I love the 2005 body style it's my look for the SD. If I can find this same price range in oct. I think I will just get a full size and be happy.

Well I think the reason for similar pricing is because the diesel has almost 100,000 miles on that ranger. They probably can get about the same for gas mileage though, and the superduty will pull alot more.

I do love the 6.0L superdutys though very nice turbo sounds. :D

the 6.0l is a good engine once all of the recalls are done on it so that would be something to check on, cause if not expect problems.

The superduty is four door too. No need to worrie when my wife and I start our family the car seat will fit fine in the back. both are automatic so that means my wife will drive'em and they both have stepbars so she won't complain about getting up in'em. She loved my '86 but she just hated getting in it and hated she couldn't drive it being it was a 5 speed, Which I kinda liked IMO. I dunno I'll half to see whats availble when I start really looking for a truck. But I think I would be very happy with a four door superduty for everyday. Then just buy another cheap 1st gen to playaround with. Besides I have a shit load of 2.3, 2.9 engine parts and 1st. gen body parts. It all comes down to down payment, and monthly payments I want to keep my focus. An I don't really want to pay much more than what I currently pay for the focus per month.

I love diesels engines as I am a diesel tech. Thats basically all I work on other than the junk I own. I like the powerstroke engines. Had a service truck that had the 7.2 I think it was. My current service truck is a F-650 with a Cat C7 which has been just about bullet proof. But keep in mind that if something goes wrong diesels are more expensive to work on. And hopefully this truck you are looking at is pre- emissions. I dont know when the power stroke went to the up graded emission but the Cat engines went in 2007. And they were so much trouble that Cat got completly out of the truck engine business. I believe it was Dec 2008 when the last Cat truck engine rolled off the assembly line. Cat was putting more money into R &D than what they were getting out so they pulled the plug. The power stroke and the Cat HEUI engines are basically the same design. Cat and International went together to design them. I think its more like an Internation design but Cat funded the project. And the powerstroke is a good old American made engine. Made in Madison, Alabama which is a suburb or Huntsville, Alabama. A lot of times when I am working at Nucor steel in Decatur, Alabama They will be a huge pile of brand new powerstroke blocks out there because they were rejected for some reason or another. Nucor makes all there coil out of recycled steel, no new steel comes out of the plant.

Umm, the F350 has 100k more miles than the Ranger. Prob why they are priced around the same. Not an issue I guess if you don't care about mileage.

I've driven 6.0s that get the same as my Ranger or better. Take into account that fuel is $1 to $2 more a gallon depending on where you are and how expensive it is to fix a 6.0 when it breaks.

I can do an engine in a Ranger for just a little more than I can put injectors in a 6.0. I can def do it for less than I can head gaskets on a 6.0. Especially if its one of the leaky heads.

Not every truck is the same, Bro. That F-series has some miles and most people are not buying the bigger rigs at all with the gas prices. I have 3 buddies who work at a Ford dealership and they said the bigger trucks are not moving well at this time. 8 months ago it was so different. They were moving. Now...I see '05 4x4 Rangers with low miles going for less than $10,000 to $12,000 around here. I guess it is just supply and demand and what somebody will pay for something or what somebody needs to get out of their vehicle.

A buddy sent me this today from Tampa:
