Been searching forever can't find information what all do I need swap a 2.8 to 2.9 previous owner swapped out the 2.8 with a 2.9 fuel injection wiring a mess basically starting over how the engine wiring harness computer everything basically just need to hook it all up......

I seen some places I need the whole dash and dash wiring harness but I'm not sure as far as I can tell the only difference is the engine harness for the computer goes to the injectors

Edit....forgot to mention it's a 1984 Bronco 2 4 Speed

You need a 2.9l Computer and its wiring harness.

There will also be fuel system issues to deal with
2.8l was carb so only 1 fuel line from gas tank
2.9l used electric fuel pump in the tank and 2 fuel lines
So you will need to drop the tank to get to the top of the tank to install extra fuel line and fuel pump
Also the wiring for the fuel pump, 1988 or older pump with sender would be needed
In 1989 sender was changed and won't work with 1984 gauge

You could use electric pump outside the tank, in frame rail, Ford did, but if tank ever ran dry it would be hard to Prime, Ford added a electric "lift pump" in the tank until correct in tank pump was available
And you still need the return fuel line added to gas tank

Check out wiring diagrams here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/EDiagrams/index.htm

Most of the wiring is self contained on the engine

Outside wiring is for 12v and grounds
Black wires are NOT always Grounds with Ford, so heads up

No changes in dash are needed, only wiring from engine to dash will be oil pressure wire, engine temp wire and Battery Light(alternator on/off) wire, so 3 wires
You may have an AMP gauge on dash instead of VOLT gauge, that can be rewired after the fact, it won't effect engine operation

Your signature shows you have a 1989 2.9l, so you should be able to gain some wiring knowledge from that

Thanks. I figured it would be rather simple. But now I got another option. Just picked up a 1998 explorer 4.0 sohc with bad trans... Now do I swap the 4.0 in the b2 and all the wiring bullshit or just swap my tk4 into the explorer to replace the blown 5r55 auto trans lol....

My signature is old but I'm far from new to these trucks

If you are going through the trouble of doing an engine swap you may as well put the 4.0 in it. I don't know why anyone would go through the trouble of replacing the 2.8L just for a 2.9L LOL. Personally I'd keep the correct engine in it but if you picked it up in a mess of a replacement I'd certainly look at any option possible to start over LOL.
