I am looking for a heater core for my 1988 Ranger XLT 4x4. Any idea which year models are equipped with same core? I see a 1999 being parted out, but not sure if it will fit my 88. Original owner and would like to keep it running.
Thanks for any info.

99 is not even close. I don't know the exact split, but the latest one you might be able to use is from a 94. Things changed drastically in 95.

This might be a stupid question, but why not just get a new one. They aren't that expensive.

Thanks for the response. That helps.

Last one I got from Autozone leaked right out of the box. The original Ford part was solid, until it clogged. I tried vinegar and other solvents, but can't clear the clog.

So don't get it from Autozone. I have gotten a few aftermarket that felt just as solid as the OE one.

My OEM heater core I/O tubes are a little greater than 90* angle while the replacement I got (Orielly's) is at 90*. anyone have an issue getting the replacement installed?

update, returned the Chinese knock off and took the original to a radiator shop
