Yeah, you should know that you MUST have the fuel rail and injectors
from a 97 98 or possibly a 99 4.0SOHC because somewhere in there
ford switched to a new "Returnless" fuel system
You must run a matching computer.

I really hope you have an automatic trans, because there were
NO manual trans 4.0SOHC's produced until the 4.0SOHC was
introduced in the Ranger in 2001.

I also hope you have the trans and starter off the SOHC, because they are different.

Yes, the bellhousings are similar, the starter mounting isn't

I have a engine from a 03 ranger that had a manual and that is what i have i also swhiched fuel lines. it bolted in and the clutch seems that it will work but that is as far as i got so far. so i think the trans will work.

well guys I did this engine swap in two weeks after work. the trans starter and fuel lines worked had to change one end and fuel filter. I also had to wire in pats key. I also had to cut some frame out but this thing has alot more power than that old school bush rod. but thanks for nothing.
