Hey guys, as I was checking over my engine I noticed oil seepage around the head gasket on the driver's side that I could not confidently rule as a head gasket leak. I noticed oil around the long bolt that holds the intake manifold to the block (directly under thermostat housing). I set my torque wrench to 22lbs and the bolt was turning very easy. I kept turning then suddenly POP! I broke the bolt. I'm going to take my time planning how to extract this broken bolt. In the meantime, what are the possible side effects of running the engine in this condition? Is it even worth trying to drill out the bolt?

Yes, Reverse drill bit will often extract the bolt while drilling, use oil on the bit while drilling

Is it worth extracting? Or should I keep trucking as long as there are no noticeable effects?

That depends on your comfort level AND how bad any leak is. If you can live with the leak and there is no performance loss AND you don't venture far from home, you could just leave it but check frequently.

Best bet is to replace, but it if that head broke off so easily, you may have other damage. General condition of your truck is also a factor on how much work you want to do.

If an extractor doesn't work you can remove the manifold and there will be plenty of bolt length to grip onto and try to turn it out. You might be alright running it as is, but I would keep an eye out for coolant in the oil.
