OK, this is an easy one. I've determined that the cause of my Ranger's problems is most likely an incredibly old and worn timing belt. Only problem i have now is that I'll have to borrow a socket and breaker bar to get the crank pulley off? Can anyone tell me what size of socket I need so I don't have to lug home an entire set on my bike? It's an '87 2.3, if it makes a difference. Thanks....

Don't know wether or not it's the same as my 95, but mine's 22mm.

That's probably about right. All I could tell was that it was a little bit larger than the biggest socket I had available, which was a 13/16". I'll grab a couple of different sizes, just to be sure.

I used a 7/8", (2 actually broke the first one), on my '96 2.3. I had to use an impact wrench, i can't imagine doing it with a breaker bar.

6 point 22mm

edit: I recommend using the starter bump technique. That thing is going to be on there plenty tight!
