I removed the front hub to do ball joints on my 93 with manual hubs and now I can't get that c-clip on the end of the axle. I can get a prybar and pry the u-joint/yoke to pull the axle out enough to expose the groove but there's no way I can put the splined washer on as well as the c-clip. It keeps pulling back towardd the differential. Any ideas?

Make sure you don't have two seals and/or shims stacked up on the axle behind the spindle, also make sure the gray plastic shim (if present) is facing the correct direction. These would cause what you are describing.

I made sure to remove the old parts including the spindle seal, shim, and slinger. However I did not press on the slinger like the manual said to do. I slid it on and the guys at work said that that's as far as it would go. Think that's the cause of my problems?

You have to use the splined washer and C-clip on the passenger side axle. The slip yoke allows it to pull back far enough that it wont make contact with the hub. It can be done on the driver side axle because there is no slip yoke (axle is fixed in place). Most people that do away with the clip have a eliminator kit (basically it looks like a valve spring in the slip yoke and it pushes the axle out and keeps it there). I have the kit, just have never installed it.

Well i was able to pry the axle shaft out enough to get the c-clip on but no the shaft has a very hard time turning. It almost wont turn at all. I decided that I'm going to have the 4wd shop thats going to alingmwnt check it out. I'll post up what I find out.

If it's not pressed on far enough, then yeah that can cause this issue too.

Also running w/o these parts installed even on the driverside can still allow the axle shaft to walk back far enough that the spindle seal is rendered ineffective.
