I found a donor explorer with leather captains seats. Decided to rape the donor for the seats, center console, overhead console, visors, and roof rack. Roof rack is already on my cap. But I have 3 days off so the interior is getting over hauled.

If I can get tapatalk to let me post the pictures, I'll get some up. I may be able to answer some questions about interchange between the ext cab and explorer.

Hey man I'm new to TRS, just wanted to say what's up and also ask about the roof rack. How did you go about mounting it ? I'm interested in finding one myself just don't know how to go about the mounting. Did you have to McGyver something up or was the oem mounting good to go ?

Thing is I don't have a cap like you mentioned you do. I wanna mount it straight to the cab of the truck

No clue how mounting it to the cab would work. I just drilled holes in the cap and stick machine screws and HUGE washers on it.

Ahh, I see. Makes me want to just find a bed cap now. Do you plan to install light bars or any other light source to the rack

nope. This is my work truck. I deliver lost luggage out if the airport and every so often I have deliveries that don't fit in the bed nicely. Ski bags for example have to go diagonally which eats up cargo space BIG TIME!

Had to take advantage of everything being out. Decided the carpet was coming out to get cleaned... And I'm going to spray some rubberized sound deadener.

uploadfromtaptalk1442965632339.jpg test fitting found that some minor cutting and a missing bracket was needed... ran out to get the bracket from my donor vehicle and ran out of daylight.

Any body know why that slot that looks like a hand brake slot is there? Came out of a 97 5.0 explorer

I'll get some pictures for you tomorrow when I have daylight. The cross members are removable. A set of Yakima to do the exact same thing runs almost 500 bucks. I got these for 25.

Behind the slot should be a tissue box holder and the slot is where you pull them out of.

Not sure if that's a joke, but with my allergies, it's about to happen.

I need some help. I'm wiring the overhead console as per the tech article. I can't find my temp sensor. Should I have stolen that from the donor as well?

Never mind... Just saw the one sentence I missed that clearly states "you need to grab the temperature sensor"

Reading is fundamental people. Damn I suck at taking my own advice.

Today I mounted the overhead console and the bracket for the center console. Ran all the wires for the seats, overhead console, visors, and some additional lighting inside my cap. Then I went to spray the rubber stuff and one of the cans exploded. Not happy about it.

This is the bracket I needed. Could have just self tapped the console to the floor, but I wanted to do it correctly so I got the bracket from the donor. It's rivetted to the floor by ford. Just smashed it with a hammer and pry and it came right out. Then I drilled out the old rivots and self tapped that bracket down

Then I went to get the temp sensor I forgot and...

We officially have a project here!

It was looking good. But then a can started puking out the nozzle... good feelings gone
