fantastic! Looks like a great trip.

If you run the dusy without lockers front and rear, a winch with a fast line speed is definitely a must

Truck did great. We did the whole trail plus a trip down Thompson hill then back up to get parts to repair the trailer. Nothing to change that I didn't know before other then to fix the exhaust. The best part was the plated bottom of the 8.8. Instead of hanging on the lip i was able to slide over rocks.

We made the gate at courtright to the top of Thompson in under 3 hours. Also saw a bear by east lake.

One thing most wheelers carry is a hilift jack. It seems like every time it is used the jack has a tendency to slide on the sliders and seems very unstable. I built the bracket below to help grab onto my sliders and hopefully make it more stable.

Here is the bracket.

It mounts onto the jack with a 1/2" bolt holding it to the jack.

Here is how it latches onto the sliders. Mine are 1.5" tube. I forgot to account for the weld on the back side so version two will be changed there.

Here it is lifting the truck. For the front I carry a chain to limit wheel travel so I don't have to jack so high.

Toss it in the toolbox and hopefully I will never have to test it for changing a tire.

Thanks the test in the garage seemed very sturdy. Much more then without it. I need to give it some real world use and see how it performs.

Last week 4x4junkie messaged me and said they would be going into Coyote Lake and doing some camping. My schedule didn't allow me to go for the full time he was going but I was able to do an overnight trip. Coyote Lake is in the Sierra National Forest about 1.5 hours from my house to the trail head. The first half of the trail in is to Red lake. I have been to Red numerous times as the club I belong to does the maintenance on it. I was making pretty good time and was about a quarter mile from Red Lake when I cought a group welding spring mounts back on the frame of a YJ. Turns out the guys doing the welding just happened by. The broken YJ was one of 4x4Junkie's friends meeting him in there.

Once they got him welded back together they packed up and took off. When the mounts broke, the driveshaft separated causing the splines to twist. We used my York and die grinder to cut 1/2" off the yoke and clean the splines on the shaft up so the front driveline could go back together. We headed in and made it to Coyote late afternoon.

A few pictures of Coyote Lake.

On my way out I found a CJ5 that had broke his rear driveshaft. I ended pulling him out half of Red Lake and then made sure he made it to the highway. Coyote is an awesome spot and I need to go back and spend more time in there. Thanks to 4x4junkie for inviting me to join his group for a few days. Hopefully next time I will have more time to stay longer.

Thanks. We do have some cool stuff. The last two trails (Dusy and Coyote) are both less then two hours from my house. As much as California has it things that suck we have a wide variety of wheeling available. I want to get up to BC. What I have seen in pictures it looks awesome but don't know about the wheeling. I have only been to Canada twice. Brandon Manitoba and Toronto. Both times just for a day.

Got sick of both of my floor jacks being to short for taking my skid plate off.. So I built an extension for my bigger floor jack. It bolts through the center hole with a location circle on both sides so it won't fall off. The 4 holes in the corners are so I can build a second one and bolt them together if I want to. We will see if 4" is enough.

Very impressive build! Love the engineering and fabrication skills...looks like you're getting your $$ worth out of that plasma cutter. Thanks for stopping by my thread to lead me here. The places your truck takes you are incredible.
