Couldn't wait. I needed to see where this thing would sit with a SOA. I tacked the perches on with a 10 deg pinion angle at this time.

Homemade "square" bolts for the time being

Going to order 10" u-bolts now that I have see how it sits.

On its own weight. But no lug nuts yet lol

Going to move the axle back a few inches to avoid cutting too much out of the door. This is the height I want to be at depending on how I can get the front to work.

How do you plan on moving the axle? You don't have much room to move the leaf springs. Or are you going to flip the springs around?

I am thinking links and coils. Just a thought at this time.

That would be your best bet. Both leaf springs on mine are very worn out. I will have to get new ones before I finish mine. The pass side main leaf has a negative arch....not good

I actually touched this thing Thursday night. I think that puts me at 6 hours of wrenching on it this year? Bummer.

Nothing exciting but posting anyways.
Pulled the front bumper. Welded some bracing across the frame that isn't shown. I attempted to remove the IFS via a reciprocating saw without disassembling the IFS. Decided its faster to disassemble then cut.

One side is apart...

This is the first IFS vehicle I have worked on where the upper arm was easily removed. Go figure since I am cutting it up...

The fun part is that I sort of wrench old school. Haven't been using impacts or other power tools because I work on this at night after my family goes to sleep. I have to wrench quietly. It adds to the challenge.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
ya know.... if i had the dana 60 gm front and rear axle from the jeep chassis, i would have used those right off the bat....swapped in a an old 208 gm or dodge case...modded the exhaust and called it done. possibly intergrated the rack to a swingset for a drag link....or whatever...

does that make me a lazy fawk?

i make the relocater deals to use the 150 2wd springs myself....they work pretty good....but i dont make shit that beefy.

not as lazy as me I would use the Super Duty axles (easy to find extra parts for and radius arms are pretty dead simple to setup) run all wheel drive transfer case then when it breaks put in the other transfercase its a dedicated wheeler as it is my Rangers in 4 low all the time because the shift motor broke
