Hey all,

So the emergency brake light on my dash has started flickering. It seems to occur under acceleration, or when revs are high (i.e. 1500 rpm+). When I am putting along it is either solidly out, or flickers a little.

There is no way that my emergency brake is engaged at all, I have checked that. It's the manual tensioner one and I have adjusted it myself. Is this maybe a loose wire, or is that a sign of something else (e.g. the issue I have next)?

Also, my brake feel has degraded significantly. The top feels.. soft, and about an inch down it firms up again and I get brake feel. I'm assuming that this is because the lines are original (from 1991) rubber and need to be replaced. Wouldn't hurt to possibly do SS lines if that ends up in the budget.

However, I have a Rancho 4" lift kit. Will I have to get a custom length set of brake lines or will the stock lines fit and have enough length? Do I need to do anything else special aside from swap them out and bleed the lines?

TIA.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
Have you checked your brake fluid level lately? The same light comes on for low fluid. Fluid has this bad habit of sloshing during acceleration which could cause the light to flicker on and off.

I second looking at the fluid level. Also it won't hurt to do a flush of the system, brake fluid loves absorbing water and that can lead to rusted brake lines.
