a few weeks ago i asked about how far in the pivot bushings should be pressed into the beam. someone commented 'all the way and mushroom it so it doesn't move'. elsewhere i read about a spacer to keep the bushing about a quarter inch from the beam (the flange end).
i pressed my bushings in from the front side of the beam and left the 1/4 inch gap between the flange and the beam.
i put about 75 miles on the truck last week. seemed okay except for needing more brake bleeding. until i was almost home. then it seemed to have an out of balance shiver.
while doing tie rod ends this weekend i noticed the bushing has moved. or rather the beam has moved ahead until it has hit the flange. i think the wheel has pushed rearward and rotated the beam with the radius rod as the pivot, forcing the beam forward on the bushing. can't go any further so i'm not worried about it.
last tie rod end is due in tomorrow (why does the parts store never have all the parts you need on the shelf?) tuesday it goes to the shop for alignment and brake bleeding
