Hello all for Va. Took the plunge today and bought an 86' Ranger, 2WD, five speed, 2.0, A/C! Looking for a project and not wanting to spend much I found this little guy. He need some work manly cosmetic although this truck I promising. I am a GM guy and my last old car was a 78' MGB. So hopefully this ford will not kick my ass too much.

Welcome to TRS James~!

It will be a project for sure. If you read up on these engines they are not exactly powerful and most posts you will see are "How can I make more power out of my 2.0/2.3?"

You may not be looking for power though...which is probably best for you and your loved ones or bank manager. Reliable...yes...hard to kill...Yes...upgradeable...yes...

Anyway...not trying to scare you off or dissuade you from making an effort...I was told long ago that the best way to get more out of them is to turbocharge them...or just grab an entire engine/wire harness/computer/transmission and anything else that will work out of an 88 Turbo Coupe and drop it in there...

I'm still working on that...:) and have enjoyed every minute of it...

Not in the market for HP right now. The engine is a 2.0 seems to run really smooth. Although I will be going over the engine to make it last however long it will last? Right now there is heavy surface rust on the frame and water coming in to the cab accumulating on the floorboards. Body is straight although need paint. I will post a few pictures soon.
