I'm tearing down to replace the heads. I've got one bolt that I can't get out of the exhaust manifold. Can I detach the exhaust manifold at the inlet and take out that entire portion? I tried to get the bolt off through the wheel well but I broke a socket that way. It feels like I will break another so I'm thinking If I get the entire section out I can grind it off. The heads are junk but I want to save the manifold.

Generally I take the manifolds off at the Y pipe and take them out with the head. The shop manuals usually tell you to take the manifold off the head before taking the head out. So either way is acceptable.
