As with many others, I have found myself facing the rough idle issue on my ranger. I just picked it up last weekend and since then I have noticed that while the truck is at a stop or sitting in park, the truck will idle normally and then every couple seconds it idles (shakes) more rough. RPMs are between 500-800. It does not make a difference whether the AC is on, or if the O/D is on/off.

I have replaced all the spark plugs and wires, and also the fuel filter with no luck. I had a friend recommend replacing the coil pack but I have yet to try that (plus you can't return it if that's not the problem). I picked up a can of SeaFoam and was curious if anyone had any luck with that?

I plan to do a compression test this coming weekend when I head over to my dads since he has the tool for it.

I have no check engine light and ran it with a scanner and had no codes pop up at all.

Any other ideas?

Compression test best way to determine if valve seat. I'd hold off on the Seafoam until compression known.

With luck it'll be a bad injector.

I would also use a unlit propane torch to check for any vacuum leaks around the motor and around the injectors, as orings can leak and cause problems, any leak will show up as an increase in RPM
