I just bought a 92 ranger with a 3.0 for $300 with a burnt valve. I wanted to throw some cheap mods on it after a top end rebuild. It is an automatic. I want to use it as a beater truck to run around town in and play at the local drag strip with. Just something to do while i build a mild 302 to go in it. My question is ahould i leave the auto in or get a clutch pedal master cylinder and an manual trans and swap it out? How much power can the stock auto tranny hold?

I wouldnt even bother seeing as youll again swap transmissions when you go to the 302.
