does any one have a video oh how to pull a 2.3l engine out? what are some of the key things to make sure to unbolt and unplug? any safety steps I should be aware of when pulling it out? Im gonna record the extraction with my gopro when i do this. so any time saving stems will be greatly appreciated.

As for tips tricks and suggestions..removing the radiator and fan beforehand might give you some more wiggle room to move the engine around.

PB Blaster. lots of it. or make your own eelsnot by mixing half and half acetone and ATF.

Find/ download/ print pictures of Ford Moco executives from the era that the truck was made. bonus if you can get pictures of the engineers. use those pictures to throw wrenches at when you run into the "what the hell were they thinking" moments. It won't solve any problems, but it will make you feel better.

Gonna need a tranny too... and many first and second gens are far from spring chickens any more.

I will have to definitely make a throw wrench here station LOL.:icon_hornsup:

What about the final stages before leaving the engine bay? What holds the engine from falling out the bottom? where do I hook the chains to the engine when pulling it out? :icon_confused:

There should be two lifting eyes on the thing, use those. As far as what holds it in place the engine mounts are reached from the top and will require a 18mm wrench, wire connectors should be drivers side by the brake booster, and I think there's 8 bolts holding the tranny to the engine (13mm ratcheting wrench from the bottom is the easiest method I've found top two go into the block, bottom two go into the oil pan, the other 4 go into the transmission) and 3 holding the starter on, and two for the exhaust. Don't worry about the quick connect fittings for the fuel lines, just take them apart at the fuel filter, it's easier... put a ratchet strap over the top of the frame and under the front of the transmission if you don't plan on pulling the tranny, this will keep it in the right general area...

There'll be some more wires and vacuum lines holding it in but that should be 90% of it...
