My '94 4.0 5 spd Splash has a few electrical issues (power locks, power windows, cruise control, and 4wd) that i cannot figure out... for the the sake of this specific forum, I'll only delve into my 4WD issues here...

I have had the truck for a year now. when i got it, the 4x4 light would light up but had no engagement. the LOW RANGE light would light up, but it never actually engaged... I replaced the front hubs and that solved the 4wd not engaging, but still to this day have no LOW RANGE... the LOW RANGE light hasn't worked since a week after I got the truck.

I now have no 4wd at all, the 4x4 lights don't light up when engaged, the t-case motor doesn't actuate, and nothing happens... I've replaced the speed sensor, the t-case motor, and checked all fuses.
I took the cover off the 4wd module behind my seat and pressed the reset button. After I did that, i now hear it sorta click when i push the 4x4 button on my dash, but it doesn't do anything beyond that. No 4wd lights light up, the t-case motor doesn't change ranges, and no low range either...

I don't know what to do with this hunk of crap. I hate this. I just want to engage 4wd and low range... thats all.... but i cant...........

There is always the Shiftster: http://theshiftster.com/
Manually shift to 4WD and 4W-low

'94 and earlier 4x4 testing page: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/4wd_control_module.html

The 4x4 dash lights come on when shift motor turns to the correct spot, if motor doesn't turn to correct spot then lights won't get power.
In the first picture here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/TCaseshiftmotor.shtml
You can see the blue shift position device on the shift motor, the wires on that are what turn on the dash lights, and tell the module the position, there is a contact wheel inside that device, it moves when motor does, making and breaking contacts inside.

It reads like there may be some general wiring issues, many of the systems are tied to common circuits, so you could have a domino effect causing systems to fail.

Good info here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/index-electrical_diagrams.shtml
1983-1991 diagrams would be the place to check.
My 1994 is the same as 1991 wiring.

I had the same problem and ended up buying a part i didnt need. There is a ground wire under the driver were the seat mounts. Hopefully this helped. Would like to see a picture of your truck, I have a 1994 Splash 4.0 5 speed
