We have one for guns, we oughta have one for bows too methinks. I know some guys on here have them.

My 'ol faithfull. 1998 PSE Baby-G-Force.

36.25" ATA, 6.25BH, 320FPS, pretty fast for its day and still respectable today. Kind of a grumpy draw cycle even set at its 60lb minimum. Goes up to 70lbs, picked it up used at Scheels in about 2007.

Been dreaming of upgrading for awhile. Looked at Brutes, then they were improved with X-Force limbs for the Brute X, gained some ATA and lost some weight for the Surge. I finally actually shot one and loved it. Smooth, no recoil... just wonderful. Using the scuzzy arrows at Cabelas I was running the risk of robin hooding at 20yds, a feat not even worth considering with the Baby-G for the 8 years I have had it. Now this year they went to hybrid cab system and nicer darker camo for the Brute Force... and that put the Surges on clearance. And I actually caught them in the act. :yahoo:

The only guy there was busy with someone else for awhile which worked out, the first one I picked (because it had a data card) was only a 60# bow. The second one I liked better all around but didn't have a card was a 70# bow so that worked out for the better. Had him set the length and the weight was already at 63# which I think is good to start off with.

And now I have the good stuff switched from the Baby G, TT Smackdown, TR 4 pin sight, B-Stinger to the Surge.

Lets see what everyone else has!

Here here!

GF wants to go shooting at an indoor range sometime, I am going to try to take my bow to work tomorrow so I can shoot it in the lot and see where the heck it is shooting before going into public with it. Tomorrow it is supposed to be pushing 50* before plunging back down into typical winter weather again.

I think archery season just ended here a week or two ago.

Deer like eating pears that fall out of the tree in my front yard, and I know they are not bashful eating in my cornfield... :icon_twisted:

Never tried bowhunting though, it is in a busy time of year for me and it takes a lot of time. Maybe I will get time someday.

you live in iowa where people pay to go for a hunt and don't bow hunt? if you have a cornfield with deer set up a stand or blind and spend an hour every now and then. I just put my bow case behind the seat and climber in bed. don't get all carried away about it. if a doe walks by in range so be it. retired helps with picking good weather day. the ground blind in your area might work for better weather shelter. sure there are days I just walk out back and poke holes in my target. most days now I can even hit it.

It's terrible I know. I was pretty good shooting with my Baby-G, I had a new string put on it a few years ago (actually the same year I bought my place) and it has never been the same since. It was annoying to target shoot with it after that, I had nowhere enough confidence with it to try to kill something with it. Paying someone to tune it or getting another new string (old enough no one has specs on it, who knows how much the old string I measured had stretched) is just money I could have put on a new bow that wouldn't have the issue and drew nicer... so I haven't really pushed it.

Fall is a busy time, it would be fun to try and my gf wants to turkey hunt, maybe deer too so I would like to try to work it in. Need to work on honeydo lists though...

I made a ground blind out of an old wagon, I need to try it sometime.

My first bow was a Bear Black Bear.

My brother is a big Bear fan, he has a Carnage and does hunt with it. This year's buck is due back from the taxidermist in a month IIRC.

I know guys that have.

It is nicer than a shotgun... you are not constantly finding shot in the bird. :icon_thumby:

As you recommended, I am posting up about archery season for deer getting ready to open for deer in IN 1 Oct.

To answer your post in the other thread, archery is far less expensive than actually shooting a firearm. Main thing, re-usable ammo depending how bad you **** up your arrow. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the most important thing, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar less maintenance. Just wax your box string and call it good to go.

EDIT:
Mine is very similar to this. I will post up a pic of mine tonight when I get home. Just need to wax the string and replace batteries in my optic; fiber optic sights w/ black light for low light illumination (pre-dawn and just after sunset).
