06 3.0 with 130k miles. Going to replace the syncronizer. No noises, but cel throwing code p1336, and still has the factory synchronizer, so im figuring its a maintenance item.

Has anyone used the carquest brand? It has a lifetime warranty. I usually use motorcraft parts, but the carquest is in stock and includes the alignment tool, vs a week to get the motorcraft part - im going on a trip this weekend and will be driving approx 500 miles.

My credo
To each his own.
The cam sync is too important to use anything except Motorcraft original replacement. Be sure and replace the sensor, on top, also. Lots of sad 3.slow owners have tried to cheap out and replace with sub-par brands only to get failure and sometimes lock up the engine from no lubrication. The cam sync turns the oil pump !

I agree, use the MC part.

Your code is probably the sensor rather than the synchro though.

Check to see if the CarQuest brand is made by Dorman, if so, stay away from it. Their build quality is poor.

RichPorter Technology (RPT) is very good, I prefer them over the Motorcraft.

Motorcraft is decent, however, I question why their cam-syncs often dont make it past 100K miles. If it were a distributor, that would be a joke.

Carquest distributor/camsync, calipers, rack and pinions, gear boxes are made by Cardon they are also A1-cardon or OEM.

Dorman does have cheap China parts. I have had a carquest camsync in my truck for 60,000 plus miles now got no problem.

RichPorter purchased by Spectra Group, a Canadian company. Hard to say what the change will do for quality. Goggle Richporter.com and you'll get Spectra Premium.

Interesting, I wasnt aware of that. Must be fairly recent.

The RPT Camsync is nice, as they have a tight (figuratively) build, and an extra oil galley/hole to make sure oil got into the shaft.
