Okay so i did my due dilligence with the search function and read so many threads that didn't really answer my questions i have on the swap.. this is an ultra low budget build, pls keep that in mind lol..

-should i use mustang convertible mounts or make my own plates?

-Its a bone stock engine so i was thinking of using the shitty stock explorer headers, will they fit? or is the early 70's manifolds the only bolt ons that will work?

-what clutch will i need to buy?

-can i use my existing in tank fuel pump with a regulator?

what else am i missing beside the obvious?

thanks for any help.

1 plates with a step...or the mounts. up to you.

2 shitty stock headers can work

3 buy the clutch setup for a 351 zf

4 use a good quality regulator....return style if you have a efi single high pressure pump in the tank. if its a two pump system just unplug and bypass the rail pump.

theres too many things to think about that can cause issues....just on what one man sees as an issue vs the other man sees a simple need to roll the rail lip with a 15 in crecent wrench.

^^ what he said. SVT makes the plates for $30 and there is a lot of adjustability with plates versus other mounts. My 5.0 is using the cast Exploder manifolds (GT40P) heads, and they work fine for me. I assume you are using a carb. Should be simpler then EFI to connect. The front driveshaft will have to be shortened, but the rear one piece from a 2000 Ranger is a bolt in if you can get the trans mount to the original position. Depending on what your NP205 came out of you made need to change the front yoke. I got a CV 32 spline yoke for a 1310 ujoint for a NP205 from Denny's Driveshaft for $55 to make the connection.

think im gonna go with the mustang mounts and see how they work out first.

priced out a new clutch and flywheel for about 300$

Probably go with the shitty exploder "headers" lol for now

I'll see where the stang mounts end up putting the tranny in relation to the tranny crossmember... would be awesome if i only had to get the front drive-shaft modded.

and ya its a 2 brl carb motor

My NP205 came out of a 1978 F150, so yes, the ujoints are probably different and you will need the CV front yoke.
