Well............it's not ALL b-a-a-a-a-a-ad!

My AM/FM/CD radio fried itself (literally) last summer----got so hot I couldn't hold it when I removed it from the dash!

Personally.....I don't need a radio.....the thoughts in my little head keep me busy.......but music does chase the thoughts away.....

SO.........WHY NOT-------

AND.....my darling wife wants a radio in the truck for long trips......she lets me stop at a Sonic Drive-In every 200 miles.

SO...........................

I get to pick out a brand-spanking-new-radio this week-end!

If I remember correctly, this is not the first radio to die of embarrasment. Perhaps you could mount the next one in a different location, such as an overhead console, where it might be less embarresed.

Maybe a small fan to either pull the heat away or to blow cool air over the radio?

I know I'm going to catch flak over this one, but the best sounding radios that i ever found was the factory radios, mainly the Ford ones, if you have a pull a parts around you down there, you should give that a try.

One radio turned itself on whenever it felt like it---and kept running my "battry down"/another one also died of overheat-exhaustion/another one lit up real Purdy but the speakers quit speaking.....but as long as Mal Wart will sell me a $9 extended warranty---I'll keep buying them....LOL!

Good thinking...but I already have a small duct on my Vintage A/C blowing under the dash just to keep the wiring/radio(s) nice and cool! It seems to be the 2nd rate electronics that Mal Wart sells that is the real problem....and the other real problem is---I keep buying them!

DUDE? BRO! what happeneded to your hand???

And 2nd question: Will a Ford radio/CD player fit in a 2"high by 7" long hole in the dash (with zero room left over because of the A/C unit)?

There.......now I'm burnt-out.......where'd I put my meds :icon_bounceblue:

my wife's cousin has a 74 FJ40 Land cruiser that I'm helping to restore, and the transmission has a leak, and the throw out bearing is bad, I was trying to remove the trans when it fell off the jack and on to my hand.

The Ford Radio that was in your Ranger should fit.

The ford radio that was originally in his ranger was probably the same model that Noah had in the ark and I'm betting his boss wants to play cd's.

I just took a guess, I don't think they had cd's when Noah built the ark.

I think all women like cd's, they're shiny and sparkle in the sunlight, reminds them of other things that are sparkly.

not particularly, just trying to keep ya cheered up dg.

Thanks Martin.........so you're saying they are like CATS....... :icon_rofl:

(And yes......other than getting the A/C working in the Ranger again.......about all I get up the courage to do is weed-eat :annoyed: .....and hop on the riding mower to keep this Loo-z-anna grass under knee-level...........plus swallowing my meds every 8 hours to stay partially sane.......

I don't quite know how to answer the likeness to cats but I do know they sometimes approach with claws exposed if you upset them in any way, and then you end up in the dog house, don't quite know how that works, I gave up trying to understand women years ago.

You don't need to try to explain the lack of motivation to me, I drove the mooer around for a bit last week to try to knock down some of the horticultural overgrowth but when I tried to start the push mower to cut down some of the stuff that was too scary to try cutting with the riding mower I ended up having to pull the carb apart to get it running. by the time I'd finished with the front lot I was too uninspired to do the back. It grows faster than I can cut it down. time for a nap.
