Haha. It depends on the situation. I had a bad in-tank pump in my '86. I could literally drive across town and it would die at the last stoplight. Wait a while and it would fire right up, drive some more, until the high pressure pump heated up again. So yes, it COULD run with just the high pressure pump. Mine ran 100% great until that last 10 seconds where the impeller in the pump stopped turning and lost fuel pressure.

It depends on your truck if it would actually work out this way or not. I am just telling you what my real world experiences are rather than how something is SUPPOSED to work.
you must just be lucky. if my tank pump is out it won't start. end. of. story.

Like I said plug the relay in and take a sissors or small flat screwdriver and push each wire in as far as you can then drive it to the mechanic I bet thats the problem.

Probably helps that both pumps are only a couple years old. If you stick around this stuff long enough you will see all kinds of stuff that makes you scratch your head. :icon_cheers:

Can't help you with the exhaust. In a year or two maybe, when I get my 4.0, but I don't have anything right now.

A good muffler shop will only change what needs to be changed unless you want all new

I have been pricing out exhaust. Getting about 120 for Y-pipe. 50 for muffler. 23 for tailpipe. 220-320 for new cats. 2.9 on a BII. Can't imagine a ranger would cost more. so basically a little over 400 for all new.

pull the codes and let us know what you find out now it is running it could be a bad or dirty sensor. change the oil and filters if not done so yet any auto part store can pull the codes for you
