Hay! First post on the new name... ill post up a new intro after this. Been around since 07 But first things first.

84 Broncoii, 2.8, auto trans, 3" body, explorer springs.

In 4lo i can cruise around, but when doing any climbs or during hard acceleration (as hard as a 2.8 will do) the trans will loterally shift from 1 or D up into neutral. Its a giant pain in the ass. Ive tried to search the situation, but search isnt working on my phone... any ideas would be great.

Shift linkage out of adjustment? Other than that I'm not sure. Not a transmission guru LOL.

My guess, check the motor and trans mounts for letting them jump around and moving the linkage.

Trans is shifting to Neutral not transfer case?

Automatics have an internal cam on the shift rod, can be seen with pan off, these detents on this cam are what you feel when you shift gears, the cam detents hold it in selected gear

Image of that here: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?attachments/5r55e-manual-valve-jpg.83928/

Remove shift cable at transmission end and manual shift gears(BLOCK TIRES!!!!!)
See if it feels tight, i.e. holds selected gear against force

When the Po installed the body lift he never adjusted the shift linkage. So thanks everyone for the input. Ive never had a factory RBV auto trans and ive never heard good about them.

5.0 before summer!
