Jack stands and the 4x4 TTB

Where do you guys put your jack stands under the 4x4 TTB to get the front wheels off the ground? There doesn;'t look like there's a good place except the shock mount, but it's a little too close to the axle to get a jack stand under it unless it was the super tall 8T kind. And that keeps that from being a good jacking point. All I see is angles on that axle...

Stick them on a frame rail somewhere. You might have to put the truck up a little higher.

Putting them under the axle... you might as well just leave the jack under it.

Underneath the shock mount is actually where the owners manual suggests jacking it from.

I use a floor jack under the lower radius arm bolt to jack it up, but if I have to work under the truck, I support it by the frame.

Yeah, that's why I want to put either the jack or the jackstand there. But if I jack off of the lower radius arm bolt, I can't put a jackstand there because the jack is in the way. If I put the jack there, there's no good place to put the jack stand.

I ended up doing it by jacking off of the lower radius arm bolt under the axle and putting a jack stand under the frame near the transmission crossmember. This won't work if I have to do any brake work though, because the suspension sag is taller than my jack stands!

Ya working on a lifted ttb is a pain in the ass, I constantly have to move the jack around and the jack stands when doing some things on the front end, If you have long raduis arms, lift and big tires you cant put them on the frame because of how short the rig is.

I use a air jack in the front and a floor jack to move the beams around.

there's a reason I spent the $20 on a set of 6 ton stands... harbor freight is great

it might not be enough to go all the way but should get close enough

Do NOT trust the shock mounts ! I had a mount break on me and the front of the truck was held up by the tires stuck at a 70 degree angle on the wheel studs :shok:
