What is the bump on top of the newer F150 cabs

Hey guys as some of you may know I have a 2000 Ranger XLT SuperCab. As of late I have been kinda thinking about getting something a little bit bigger to pull my 18 foot gooseneck with and later on a fifth wheel camper. Then I can retire the ranger to a little easier life. I want to redo her and fix all the rust and make her look new again. My question is what is that bump on the top of the cab of the newer F-150's? I think it starts showing up on them around 2006 or so. Is that for Sirus radio or is that for something like Onstar that Chevy has?

Sirius antennae... my '85 has one too. :icon_twisted:

Ford doesn't really have something like Onstar. They have Sync which does something similar I guess, it uses your cell to call in case of a wreck though rather than using its own system.

ok I was wondering about that, and wasn't sure exactly what it was so decided to as people that would probably know more about it than I do. If that is the Sirius antenna then that makes me feel a little better.

Teardrop shaped? Black? about 2" wide and a bit longer maybe 3" long?

Typically mounted just aft of the frnt edge of the roof....

Yeah that's a Sirius antenna.


There's one on my '87 Ranger. I robbed the antenna off of a wrecked 2005 Escape, where it was near the front of the roof on the passenger side.

But was happier having the coax entirely inside the cab...
