Hey guys, can you fit an HEI dizzy under there? My buddy is using one of these in a 91 5.0 HO, but he has a 49 Ford, so it has more hood clearance.

Anyway, this dizzy is really nice. The coil is in the cap (HEI), and you only hook up 2 or 3 wires. He bought it from this guy on Ebay:

Those have been used a lot. I would rather use a points type with a pertronix unit. Just my .02 though

Should be able to, I don't much care for the looks of them though.

My Ranger is not old; no one would call her old. She has a bluff bow, lovely lines. She's a fine truck: weatherly, stiff and fast... very fast, if she's well handled. No, she's not old; she's in her prime.

I wasn't going for looks as much as needing a dizzy for a good price. Plus a one wire hook up is nice too.

The distributor I have is from MSD and it's the one for a stock 302. I can just change the gear for a roller cam?

Contact MSD and they should be able to help you out. Or do a good google search.

Swapping the efi for my carb setup. When I pulled the stock intake off I noticed some carbon buildup, it looked like charcoal bricks stuck the the interior walls? Was wondering what this is? And what's the best way to clean it out? Also. What's the best way to clean off the old gasket with out it getting all over the place and falling inside the block? Thanks.

Ordered a new gear from summit, had to send it to a machine shop to have a new hole drilled. Why don't they come with the hole in them already??? It cost me $40 and the the shop said he went through 20 bits trying to drill the hole! Used an angle grinder with a brush and cleaned all the surfaces before I put my intake on. The motor is in and running great. There's always a few tweaks to be made but Im happy with how its going.
