I have a 1985 ranger with the 2.8L v6 and a4ld transmission and shortly after replacing the transmission i started having a problem with my truck Sputtering and dying when i turn right (while driving) and if i rock the truck hard enough side to side while idling. I have no idea what the problem could be any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.

this may sound odd and may not be whats going on, but i had a 68 bronco that had a bad solenoid on the fenderwell and everytime i turned right, it would sputter and die....took a long time to find it...must have had a short in it...

i'd probably start with looking at the carburetor. did you remove it for easier access to the bell bolts when you replaced the transmission? could be the float is jacked up and restricting (or flooding) fuel delivery when you turn right or rock.

How would i know if my solenoid is bad? I did have the carb off to repair a cracked foot but it was long before i replaced the transmission.

in lieu of someone more knowledgeable at diagnosing electrical problems chiming in...my guess would be maybe start pulling codes. might help you narrow the problem.

Mine rattled when I pulled it and shook it.

I had a old Chevy truck once that did that and I found when I replaced the trans the hot wire from the started was slightly rubbing the header and burned a bit of the coating off and it would cause it to stall when turning right I would run it and get under there and wiggle some wires around maybe
