Newbie Lift Question

Hey all,

First time doing suspension work on my vehicle. Looking to add 2" or so to my 05 Ranger 4x4. Thoughts on how to best get the job done? Any and all suggestions welcome.

Swapping your leafsprings for Explorer leafsprings from the junkyard is fairly cheap and effective.

Cranking the torsion bar is an effective way to gain a few inches of lift. It can make the ride a bit stiffer but not really bad as long as you don't raise it more than 2 inches. Body lift is another inexpensive way to lift your rig and you can put bigger tires. To improve the off-road articulation of your truck, getting a suspension lift kit is the best route.

Adjusting the torsion bars up 2" is fairly cheap and only the cost for a front end alignment. Typically this will make the truck sit level and you don't need to lift the rear since you can fit 32" tires (265/75-16) on the stock wheels. If you want to lift the rear anyway, then yes you can use Explorer leaves or an add-a-leaf kit.

The only true suspension lift kits for last-gen Rangers are from Superlift that costs a lot of money or Dixon Brothers that costs a boxcar load of money.
