On this 87 the PO had issues with the headlights, and instead of replacing the Dimmer switch, he wired up a toggle switch on the dash for the low beams. I got the new dimmer switch in, but the F'ing moron separated the wires from the stock vehicle plugs that plug into the headlight's terminals, so I'm not sure what goes where. I have the ground in the middle, and the red wire on the right (Passenger's) side terminal, and the green one on the left (Driver's) side terminal. Everything seems to work as it should, but the Hi beam indicator lights up faintly with the low beams on. Also, he included another headlight switch, but as I mentioned, that wasn't the problem.

I found this: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/EDiagrams/files/Diagram_Headlights_1983to1989.JPG but I can't really tell if I hooked it up correctly.

Sounds like you need a picture of the stock connector with the wire colors visible.

The wire order looks correct. I would venture a guess that your high beam indicator is on with the low beams because a small amount of power is bleeding into the high beam circuit even when it is off. That bulb lights off the same wire that lights the head lights.

When all else fails, run to the JY to compare! Turns out I was way off. The correct order is: green(hi) Pass side, red(low) center and black(grnd) Driver side. Both bulbs are brighter in low and hi modes, and the hi beam indicator is only on with the hi beams.
