so heres my first snag building up my 302.. i have a 99 exploder 302 with an 80's mustang oil pan... i have the explorer dip tube n stick and a 94 mustang 302 tube with out the stick and i know the tube on an 80's ltd is 16.5 inches from end to end without tube.. i like the explorer tube cause its not too big but its stick is 25 inches and its tube is 17.5 inches.. its sticks into the motor 7.5 inches..

my question is whats the length of a fox body stick from base of handle to the end and how far does it enter the motor so i can modify the explorer one..

if i could find an actuall fox tube/stick i would, so far all ive found was a cracked tube at pull a part..

Bump . I'm in the same boat right now kinda . I got like a 85 crown Vic dual sump pan . Pan doesn't have a dipstick tube at all . My 96 expo has the tube in the block though and have dipstick . What can I do to read oil right . And also how much oil is everyone running in a 5.0 with dual sump pan . In my 2008 trailblazer ss with ls2 6.0 I running a quart over because of the front sump setup . Can we run extra in the pan on these 5.0's ?

Sorry for the delay, been doing a big overhaul of my garage and I keep forgetting to measure.

The dipstick is pretty much flush with the tape, the end of the tape measure pushes it up and makes it look like they are not lined up.

About 5, probably get 6 to be safe, not much more though. I use the good ol' FL1A filter Ford used for decades. I have it mounted vertically where the charcoal canister used to be on the radiator support. The nice thing about it being vertical is I can prefill it before installing it.
