The power windows/locks on my 89 BII have long since stopped functioning. I would love to just do a door swap to all manual, and have found a good set of replacement doors for $50.

Has anyone ever done this swap? I'd like to, as well, delete as much of the PW/PL wiring harness as possible. The more wiring I can get rid of, the better. I know the harness plugs in behind the passenger front fender, is there anything else I can ditch while I have it all apart?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I have to contribute here is to be careful deleting the door harnesses if you like your door speakers. I used 89 door harnesses on my PWL install and the speaker plugs are part of the same harness.

I used wire cutters once. Or a brick to delete the window

My credo
do unto others as they do unto you
the only things in the door harness ore the window wires, power lock wires, and speaker wires. either get another harness with the new doors ore cut out everything but the two speaker wires.

Thanks that helped a ton.

Got the doors pulled off a couple days ago. Just unhooked 2 plugs on each side behind the headlights, and pulled the entire harnesses out from behind the fenders. I couldn't believe how easy that was. I'll just tuck those pigtails out of the way, I want to clean up my engine bay and wiring harness as much as possible without hacking into it.

I'm just going to run new speaker wires straight from the head unit, the new doors are getting upgraded speakers anyway.

In case anyone is wondering, 88-prior manual window regulators will NOT work with post-89 door panels, the crank stub is too short :/
