I am building a 460 for My 1970 torino, thought about sticking it in a ranger but decided it would be best for the torino :)

I will be finishing it up in the next few weeks just wondering what you guys think it will put down on a chassis dyno.

ford 460, 8.8:1 Comp ratio, wieand stealth intake, quick fuel 850cfm double pumper, rv cam .497/.512 212/229 dur, 1.7 roller rockers, long tube headers, ford racing aluminum heads. Lightweight crank pulley and flexplate

1500 stall converter, c6 transmission with shift kit and hd sprag with new kevlar bands and clutches.

3.93 ford 9'' with a full spool

this will be entertaining lol:headbang:

Probably a tic over 400hp/500tq at the crank, my WAG would be 290/390 at the wheels.

An absolute guess with those mods. Stock, it's probably 175hp at the wheels.

Put the 460 in the Ranger I'd like to see that, although if you go to the NADA blue book site and put in Ranger or Bronco 2, the 302, 351, and 460 are engine options on there. The 302 and 351 are tight fits, I'd hate to see a 460 crammed in there, cooling would be a major issue at that point.

As far as numbers, the stock 460 was like 175-190HP if I remember right, all I know is it had more power than the numbers showed. It was a torque monster engine, other than the crappy fuel economy it was a great engine.

Please share your dyno numbers if and when you have it done.

I'd guess close to Teddy. a stock '70' Cobra Jet was rated at 375 HP and that was a 429. Hard to tell with a larger motor, lower compression and smaller cam. I kndow the 428's were rated all over the place.

8.8 compression ratio is your big horse power killer 11 to 1 would bring your power way up, and still run pump gas, 12.5 to1 would net the most power but with that you need race gas, Iam sure even with the lower compression its going to be really fun to drive

I wanted to try and keep it on 87 or 89 octane and have it powerfull enough to get in trouble but not make it a track only car. If I dont like the numbers I might think about swapping some forged pistons into it and bump up the cr.
