200-250k miles is all I ask of an engine these days. More than that is certainly possible (as you've proven) but it owes me nothing at that point, and I consider it to be a matter of when, not if, it gives up the ghost.

I'd lean strongly towards swap;ing in a freshly rebuilt engine vs investing heavily in your existing engine. It's just an odds play, and the odds are that you'd be rebuilding the current 3.0 at some point before the top end needed to be rebuilt again, so it would likely be money wasted.

You're over 500k on the truck now. Do you have a specific mileage goal? At what point would you move on to a different vehicle all together? I respect the heck out of you for doing the maintenance to keep it going for all of those miles.
