sohc oil pan swap

questions on how the sohc oil pan is bolted on.
do i need to use the sohc main bearing bolts? i'm not familiar with the sohc. is the upper pan actually bolted to the main bearing caps somehow? i'm looking at the 8 hex head inserts in the upper pan and this diagram and scratchin my head. 3:icon_confused:

The upper oil pan on a 4.0SOHC engine is also a main\ bearing stud girdle
