Yeah I have a tube bender now so I am going to make some tube ends and probably a stinger. I will also be adding some rock sliders. :icon_thumby:

I didn't dent it up on purpose! My brake booster vac line came off so I had no brakes, and I went right into a tree. Twice.

Twice? If it's anything like our trip then that's understandable. Did it come off cause of the body lift, making the hose too short?

No, although I'm sure the 1" body lift didn't help. My transmission mount broke and so when I would rev the engine under load the whole drivetrain would rotate to the right like 8 inches. :icon_surprised:

This rotational motion of the engine pulled the vac line off the booster and I lost my power brakes. My engine was also revving at like 2500rpm so it was difficult to crawl around slowly(I was turning around to go back down the trail).
I didn't figure out what was wrong until after I got turned around and after I had hit the tree.

It's okay, the ranger will solider on. I just ordered a new poly trans mount. :icon_thumby:

Damn! That little 4 banger broke the transmission mount. Or was that one of the mounts you didn't replace yet? Oh did you ever fix your motor mounts from our trip out?

Tore out motor mounts on my truck once, tried hooking the vacuum line back up a few times and it kept coming off again, zip tied a piece of duct tape over the port on the manifold so the truck would idle. Finished the trail (all downhill off a mountain of course), hooked the vacuum line up, and drove it home :icon_thumby:

Interestingly, I DID replace the trans mount with a poly one years ago, but then I removed it and put the poly mount into my daily driver explorer. So, the ranger just had an old stock mount that was all loose already. And no, haven't replaced the motor mounts yet but I have new ones sitting on my toolbox. So those were likely also part of the problem. My whole drivetrain was moving around like crazy. This weekend or next I will be replacing the motor mounts and the trans mount. :icon_thumby:

Yeah that's basically what happened to me too. Glad to hear I am not alone! :D

Whoa.... What the hell is this?

Why is the engine back out?

Oh.... broken engine mounts. Of course. :annoyed:

Oh and look at this, the stud on the new mount is too long. Going to have to cut that down :icon_welder:

I gotta do the ones on my black truck. Been putting it off till I'm ready to drop a turbo engine in it either over winter break or summer break. Changing them is such a PITA haha. I did them on my other truck when I put the turbo engine in. I ended up welding the nut to the back side of the bracket and cutting the little alignment tab off so that if they ever had to be changed again I could simply lift the motor & unscrew the isolators out without having to pull the whole bracket off. The passenger side bracket is almost damn near impossible to remove with with the axle beam in place lol.

Yeah, these are a royal pain in the ass. Why couldn't Ford just make them easy to unbolt? :icon_confused:

I'll have it back together in a few days and be ready to hit the trails again.
