Ordered Aussie Lockers. ? Front fit fine, works amazingly well. Ordered a set for the rear. Standard 8.8 set is too big. Wont fit. My question is; were the axles in the 2002 4x4 smaller or what. Door sticker and axle tag both indicate 8.8 ring gear, 4:10 ratio.

Did you order the right spline count? It could be that you have a 28 spline axle shaft and ordered a locker for a rear end with 31 spline, or the other way around.

Big where the axle shafts fit in? You ordered the Explorer and F150 8.8 set. Simply return and get the 28 spline count set and you should be good to go. Rangers got the smaller spline count. Which is kinda weird in a way, but they use the same shafts as the 7.5", and as I seem to be mentioning a lot lately, unless you've got big power or big tires, the 28 spline stuff does just fine. It's actually quite a strong alloy in regards to most OEM shafts.

Further investigation shows you are right on the mark. Thanks. Now the question is will the 31 spline fit the front of a 1983 Bronco. Hmmm...

Front? - no.

Rear? - yes, as long as it is indeed the full-size (f150 based) Bronco, not a Bronco II

The full-size Bronco front ends were a Dana 44 based TTB.
