With the Explorer motor and transmission in its time to set the rearend. With the 6" Skyjacker lift on im worried about what driveline to use. I have the old explorer one, can I just cut it down? or find something else. I need to know what my options are. Its going to be my daily driver so I can leave my truck hooked to the boat.

A chopped down Explorer shaft is a good option.

If you can find an F-150 front shaft from an 04-08 I hear those work nicely too.

ive been running a cut rear shaft for 3 yrs and have not needed to install my spare shaft yet. ive havnt checked out the f-150 driveshaft yet, thats a good idea, cuz i bet they are thicker. the exp shafts will suprise you at how steep of an angle they will run. i didnt balance mine, and it runs smooth, but i did get it welded straight as an arrow.

thanks guys, once I get these shafts in Im moving to fuel, fluids and fabbing a cable bracket for the floor shifter, unless a mustang auto floor shifter will work.

You'll probably want to use a double-cardan driveshaft since you have the lift on it (especially if you'll be DD'ing it). The F-150 front shaft sounds like it would be a good option (I have a '91 Explorer front shaft as the rear shaft on mine).

Do you set the rearend angles the same for the double-cardan shaft?

They aren't really that thick. About the same as the stock rear shaft on the B2.

The big advantage is that they are plentiful and have u-joint, not CV joints.

No, with a double-cardan the pinion gets pointed more upward so that it's straight inline with the shaft (I still put about 1-2° down to account for windup of the leafsprings however).
