I recently picked up a 1:25 scale ranger model for cheap and decided this would be a build for a mid 90's ranger prerunner.

removed all the inner fenders and core support. not like ill be needing them any time soon or ever...

Thought about putting in a 5.4 DOHC motor. but we will see about this.

First lets deal with suspension.
thinking long travel 6"+ extended beams 6-8" lift.
and 3 or 4 link rear. all working of course.

k member for the engine.

i beams are the front axle beams, judging by your avatar pic i am surprised to the question.

long equal length beams are best for controlled travel in a prerunner.

A little more progress.

Extended drop beams bassed of the WIY beams.

the front beams are scaled to equal 8 lift and 8 out.
the rear end was borrowed from a damaged ford Lightning.
Ive fitted it with a 4 link setup. three points at the axle and four at the frame.
once the glue is dry the rear end will be mounted.

Most of the time a K member is used in A arm setup, very common in FWD cars.
thus the question, my brain sees K member then I beam :shok:

i would argue that k member points to the fact that most rwd cars engine cradles looked like k's and thats where the term comes from.

look at old mopars and gm/fords.

but i do understand your point.

time to remove and bulge the fenders, need another model to get creative with that.

neat project. got my tiny little mind working now.
