I got a PAC 80 amp relay rated for a continuous load on Amazon for 16 bucks. This was the final piece to the puzzle of the Taurus fan install.
Here is a rundown on parts used and their cost:
1995 3.8 Ford Taurus 2 speed Fan: $9.00
1996 Volvo 850 fan control relay: $7.00
1996 BMW thermo switch for 2 speeds (180 degrees/195 degrees): $12.00
BMW harness: $2.00
PAC 80 amp relay: $16.00
Amplifier wiring kit:$20.00
Wire loom: $8.00
3M electrical connector assortment: $8.00
Grand total: $82.00
I originally started this project when I went to replace the water pump and saw how severely cracked my factory fan was. A new fan was going to be 28 dollars at Autozone, and I was set to buy that. Then Rick (RangerSVT) suggested I look into the Taurus fan upgrade. I am quite pleased with the results so far, especially considering I only had to get into it another 54 dollars to make the upgrade. I've only driven it to work twice though, and the hottest it got was around 80 degrees. It will get the real torture test in a few weeks.
MOAR PICS!!!!!
