I managed 21.6mpg from Biggs, OR to Klamath Falls, OR driving between 55 - 75mph the entire way (besides when driving through towns). Terrain is completely flat for the many hundred miles and I probably had the wind pushing me too. I ran my numbers three times to make sure that it was a correct figure. I got 19.5mpg on the way back with the wind blowing my little truck all over the road.
I was getting 11mpg average in the winter around town, and 8mpg when running 4x4 through town when it was snowing. I was getting 13.5 around town in the summer when I was running a 2.9L. Goes to show how drastically fuel economy can change under these conditions...
