What are the tallest gears (numerically small) available for the D35 IFS?

I have a 2000 Ranger with the D35 front axle and torsion bar suspension and I am swapping a 4bt into it. I'd like to run 3.55 or 3.31 to put the 4bt in the proper power band at highway speeds.

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
I think 3.55 is the lowest.

HOWEVER, I have personally put a rear low pinion D35 housing with the tubes cut off onto a spare Ranger beam and the bolt holes lined up. You'll need some extra reinforcing towards the arm where that bolt goes through, but technically it bolted in.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN EVERYTHING ELSE WILL LINE UP. I did not go that far or even check.

BUT, it will allow you to drop down to 3.08 easily. Maybe lower, I don't know.

I know for the TTB D35s you could have gotten 3.27 gears. Unsure if they carried that ratio over to the IFS years.

friendly FYI, that is not really a D35 front diff in your 2000'
the ring gear has only 8 bolts and the carrier parts do not interchange with regular D35 diffs.

for other ratios try 95-01 explorers, they have the same front diff and may have more options.
