What I did was lay out both wiring harness and look at the diagram from both vehicles and just traced it down, one wire at a time. Some ppl now say to use the ranger harness. Idk personally how well that works. But I've read it a lot. I got everything figured out my way but that was the only issue with the 4.0 swap I had

If you have both books, and you find that post worthless, then it sounds to me like you already have it figured out...

If you plan on using the '92 harness, you need to do it one wire at a time. It's not that difficult. There aren't that many wires. I swapped a '92 Explorer 4.0 into an '87 BII, one wire at a time. I had both harnesses out, and both books out. Matched the wires, one at a time.

The next time around, I was smart and swapped and 4.0 from a '90 Ranger into a '90 BII. It was 99% plug and play.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
takes me about 10 seconds to make a 91-92 sploder setup run whether its laying on the ground...in a lawn tractor or a water pump.

if you have the schems it should be clear how to accomplish your wants.

you dont have to splice shit if you dont want to.
