Hey guys,
I joined this site years ago when I was doing an engine swap in my father-in-laws truck. Now I have a ranger of my own. I picked up this 1994 Ranger 4.0 5-speed, a little less than a week ago. The plan is to get it into good reliable shape and then sell my 1 ton ford truck. The truck currently runs and drives okay. The shifter is extremely sloppy (feels like you have to move the shifter a foot to the right to get into third), so I have ordered the shifter busing kit. It needs at least two tires, a side view mirror and some random body parts. The interior has no carpet and now has no radio because I pulled it out because someone wired everything direct bypassing all of the stock wiring...and the wiring was not hid well. Here are a few pics of what I am working with. I will use this thread to document progress and ask my random questions
Not sure what the standard rear axle is in these trucks, but according to my door sticker is have an R6 axle, which according to google is a 8.8 limited slip axle with the 3.73 gears
Does anyone know what the correct radio adaptor is to install an aftermarket radio with a truck that has the factory amp? I had an aftermarket radio installed in the truck. How do you know if the truck has the factory amp option? Where would the amp be located?
I will also need to replace the clutch soon. I was going to go with Exedy. Anyone have any advice on this?
Anyone close to central VA that has a 93-97 parts truck that is the same color green (DA) then please let me know. I could use a fender, mirror, grille, some other small exterior and interior parts.
From searching around it seems that no one make factory fog light brackets. Is the only option still making something up or finding a used set? My truck has the fog light switch, relay and wiring installed so I would like to add the lower valance but I will need some brackets too.
Also, the truck is 4x4 but 4x4 does not work. It has manual locking hubs with the push button switch over the radio. When I push the button nothing happens. From looking around it seems that I need to take the motor off of the side of the transfer case and clean it...or is there more to it than that? Is there a write up on that?
This truck is meant to be something to run around on the weekend to lowes and the dump. It will never be super fancy, but I would like to get it in a littler better shape. Comments and advice are welcome.
