Will a flex fuel motor run on a normal fuel setup?

I just bought a chassis from a 2000 Ranger, still has the fuel tank, motor, transmission and everything else expect the body.

I am pulling the motor and putting it in my 1998 Ranger, both motors are 3.0 and everything looks pretty simple right now. The question is, I am unsure if my 2000 Ranger parts are flex fuel or not, and if they are, will this motor run off the fuel system on my 1998 body? If not, what type of mods will this take?

Thanks,

Philip

Also wanted to add that I do not have the computer for the 2000 motor. Is there any way to make it run on my old fuel system and get rid of the flex fuel system?

Any thoughts anyone? I am at a standstill trying to figure this out. Thanks!

Flex fuel is primarily two things: internals that can tolerate the attack of alcohol on the lubrication and settings to work with the different combustion characteristics of ethanol: lower stochastic ratio, etc. Being flex fuel rather than ethanol only, it can't take advantage of ethanol's high octane, which would allow a much higher compression ratio. Ethanol (or methanol) injection is used to the raise the octane on forced induction engines. Something to do if you want to run your street Supra at 25psi boost (and 1000hp).
