I'd been having a never ending mystery issue with random misfire, CEL flashes, strange shifting, and bucking, almost always after a large bump, dip or turn. After replacing the normal list of junk (MAF, PCV, Coilpack, plugs etc etc) and the problem never went away Finally got traced down to the small fuel pump fuse. I believe it was # 20 in the power distribution box. Wiggled it, the whole truck shuddered and acted like it wanted to stall, then it took a big gasp. Took the box apart, cleaned it with electrical cleaner, put a new fuse with the prongs slightly bent so it'll hold a little snugger, and some dialectic grease, and it seems to be good. Went over some big bumps while taking it on a test drive, and everything seems ok.. What can I do to prevent this.. should I be worried about it happening again soon/what caused it?
When cleaning it we took it apart and cleaned the top and bottom of the connectors before putting it back together.
Took 22 years for it to start happening.. hopefully I get another 22.
Next I have to take the POS after market fuel filler neck back off and mess with it. It refuses to let the pump pump, so the cheap inner rubber tube must of kinked or twisted when we were trying to line up the screw hplea on the fuel filler door. Wish it had the hard plastic inner tube like the motorcraft. Thanks Spectre.
