Looking to put an exhaust on my 2010 ranger sport 4.0. I had the flowmaster on my 06 3.0 and it sounded pretty good. Has anyone installed either on a 4.0? Which is your preference. These are my two choices as i have enough advanced auto rewards to make it free.

I love a deep rumble at idle, and a good volume on acceleration.

I had a Flowmaster 40 on my 5.0 for a while and just thought the drone was too much. Hard to carry on a conversation cruising at 70. Changed to a huge 3.5 inch inlet/outlet diesel muffler which still flows really well and killed the drone.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I've been looking into this over the past couple weeks. A resonator gets rid if the drone. The muffler gives the tone of the exhaust and controls overall volume.

I just ordered a Flowtech Raptor turbo muffler ( similar to Thrush) for my 3.0. And I'm going with a 4" x 18" resonator where the cats were. Also adding a short flex pipe to isolate the exhaust from mechanical engine vibrations.

After owning a couple different mufflers, flowmaster 40 included, I won't run anything but an aero turbine on my truck. I have a 30/30 on my V8 now, but when I had a 4.0 v6 I had the aero 25/25 and it sounded great. Got compliments everywhere I went. The flowmasters have a dang terrible drone.

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
dynomax is by far my favorite. if you gave me flomasters i would throw them in a dumpster and spend the money out of my pocket to put on dynomaxes

the aeroturbine is second.

I had both on my old '02 and took both off. Ended up with a thrush welded that really didn't drone at all. Biggest thing is tailpipe length. Run a full one or at least dump it over the axle. Unrelated but I'm currently running a magnaflow on my '98 ram 5.2 and couldn't be happier. Nice clean sound and absolutely zero drone.
