getting this thing back on the road.
the rear tail lights were take (before I got hold of it), they just cut the wires:sad:

SO I just found the conector to the wire harness, by the rear bumber, & unplugged it....right.

went to the donor that has tail lights, & do the same thing, to get the needed bulb sockets and tail lights & associated wires...rear wiring section.

but the donor is 87', the plug on the harness on the 87' is different then the 86':no2::temper: as charlie brown would say..."AAAAHHHH"!

Heres the question;
COULD one just shave the molded plastic alignment rib off the main harness to accept the 87' tail light section? and get everything to work????

It appears to use the same pins..???
OR do I have to splice in the old plug(from the 86') to the 87' tail light section?

need help please...electrical is NOT my ...umm..."strong suit", shall we say.:no2:

the answer is yes....
it can be done that way....shaving the plug rib, that is, just the one that does not aligne correctly . You still end up with 1 alignment rib and the wider depression release clip to hold everything in place.

I just did it cause I didn't want to hack and splice the original plug...for me it usually just leads to problems....I also had to put in new fuses for turn signal and hazards...then everything work just fine.
