I jumped in thinking I had ALL the information i needed to do 2001 cluster swap into my 1995 Ranger
BUT
I have run into a couple issues and could really use help by you fellow Ranger/ Explorer woners that have done this or know of a thread I can read
Ive gone through about 150 threads looking for further help but not finding any for the 1995 Ranger
It seems it is its own little screwed up year that no one talks about

96-97 easy swap
98-2003 easy swap
(From what ive read)
But 1995 needs the door ajar
Check engine
Check fuel cap
And another I cant remember has something to do with low fuel I think

Any
Here is where I am stuck
I have taken all the 1995 guts and back electronic board and transfered it all over into/onto the 2001 white faced with green lighting
But i move a damn black and pink? Or ornage or red wire and I have lost all functions on the right side (Passenger side gauges) I can not put my needles back on until I am sure the lighting and warning indicators are working.
I have done the picture with engine warm and the battery test on MPH gauge

I just need help with the repinning and color and where they go
Maybe I missed read or miss understood where they went and now my truck is down until I can figure this out

I know your all probably at wits end with repeating yourselves on this swap
But I could use some help and possibly help others down the road with there swap (take some of the slack up)

If could post me towards a tjread or a sticky of how to get tjis completed.

Again thanks all for you help and time

I am about eyebal dead after reading so many pists and not finding the 2001 to 1995 swap

Did you happen to find wiring diagrams for both years so you can print them out and compare them?

Do you have the wire clips from both years so you can splice the new one into the old hardness or are you trying to repin this with just the old harness going into the new cluster?

If you don't have wire diagrams you might try searching this link.,,recently posted for review as a Tech Article...

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1605104#post1605104

It is much easier (for me anyway) to print them out and work from there...note all changes to the wires in a separate ledger (not on the print outs unless there is plenty of room for mistakes or redos).

I haven't actually looked at the diagrams for this application but I have done modifications successfully on my 96 to 88 dash swap and it was made much more difficult by me not keeping accurate notes...I took a million pictures and they only helped a bit and only for putting things in place...the fine tuning took careful...and I do mean CAREFUL planning...but they all worked out well.

I also saw request for speedo rewiring on another Ranger Forum and others. Congrats to Pintobobster on his determination!*Please post wiring finding.

So here is what I found and did to swap the 2001 Explorer white faced cluster panels into my 1995 Ranger using all my 1995 gauges and housing with the plastic board.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

CONNECTOR C216 PIN# 3 PK/LG

MOVE TO

CONNECTOR C215 PIN# 4 (MINE WAS EMPTY)

DOOR AJAR

CONNECTOR C215 PIN# 3 BK/O

MOVE TO

CONNECTOR C214 PIN# 6

FUEL RESET ( WHICH IS INERTIA SWITCH ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR TO SHUT OFF FUEL INCASE OF IMPACT)

CONNECTOR C214 PIN# 6 GY/O

MOVE TO

CONNECTOR C214 PIN# 3 (MINE WAS EMPTY)

Took pictures of all gauge settings prior to pulling dash apart and removing needles from panel.

After I got everything together (re-pinning) I left face lens off to expose needles so I could set them correctly.

I then started the truck let it idle for 20 minutes set my RPM needle at just below 1000 RPM from picture I took, I put my other needles approx center setting for my TEMP, OIL, and BATTERY. Then I drove to fuel station filled tank and set fuel needle just slightly to right edge of black marker above the F, (it use to go way past the F before but I do not mind having a little reserve fuel in take). then set up my GPS drove to the freeway and set my cruise control to 60MPH and set my Speedometer needle to match,

I then Drove home seated all my needles to correct height as to not hit/scrap on panels.

Been doing fine for the week I have been driving it. And it looks GREAT......

Also I used new Needles I bought off EBAY

The only mod I had to do to get them to fit correctly was cut them shorter to set on pins of gauges and for the Battery I pulled the metal tab out of original needle and drilled a bit larger hole in the ebay needle and push the metal tab into the new needle and it set just fine on the battery gauge no gluing or other mod and it is not sloppy or loose works like factory.

Hope this helps others with a 2001 Explorer white face cluster panel swap into a 1995 Ford Ranger......???
